Patio Heater GasWhether your patio heater is free standing or the smaller table top version, you will require a gas supply. Most patio heaters use liquid petroleum gas and burn on either Propane gas or Butane gas. The most common gas for patio heaters is the Propane version as this will continue to work in lower temperatures where as Butane is less reliable. The largest supplier of patio heater gas is Calor Gas. Calor Gas have over 10000 approved gas outlets within the UK, so obtaining gas for your patio heater should be simple. You can find your nearest Calor Gas outlet by calling 0800 662 663 and you will most likely require their 'Patio Gas' which is in the jade green cylinder.. Buying Patio Heater Gas. When you first buy your patio heater you will undoubtably need to buy a gas cylinder for it. Your patio gas supplier will ask you to fill in a form stating your name, address and a few details about your property, you will also have to pay a deposit on the gas cylinder as well as the cost of the gas. A full bottle of patio heater gas should last for several weeks on normal useage. When your gas runs out simply take the cylinder to your local stockist and exchange it for a full one, paying only for the cost of the gas. Fitting The Patio Gas Cylinder. Attaching the gas bottle to your patio heater is very simple although never forget you are dealing with a highly flamible product. You will need to purchase a regulator which clips to the gas pipe coming from the heater and the gas bottle itself. There are a couple of types of regulators but the most common and easiest to use is the Clip-on regulator. Ensure that the regulator is switched to the off position and that the connecting pipe is fitted correctly. Put the regulator on top of the cylinder valve, place your hand on top of the regulator and push down firmly until you hear a click. That denotes that your regulator has engaged and is now ready. Switch to the on position and you will hear the gas travel through the connecting pipe. To disconnect your patio heater from the gas supply, make sure that the regulator is turned off and that the patio heater is extinguished. Push the on/off switch in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and pull upwards.
